This week I wanted to reflect on EdCamps, a topic and idea we discussed in class last week (October 25th-31st). These ‘camps’ are conferences which are participant driven by K-12 educators. Due to the pandemic, as a class we had to do this activity virtually through zoom, but it was actually super neat! I imagine that moving forward many conferences will be held in this manner as it cuts down on travel, time etc. For our mock ‘EdCamp Conference’ we had a variety of workshop topics which each student could sign up for if a particular topic was of interest. You could easily move between topics and join in with another conversation. I thoroughly enjoyed this as it gave us all a chance to speak with one another which has been more difficult given the current circumstances. It also allowed everyone to pick a topic which was of actual interest to them, which ultimately enables people to be more engaged as they are actually interested in what they are discussing.

I think EdCamps would be extremely beneficial for other careers besides education, as they are an excellent way in my opinion to get connected with like minded people and learn something new.
